In December 2005, our son Luke Allen Maples, passed away after a two year battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  To experience the death of a child is without a doubt the most difficult and most painful trial I have ever faced.  But it has also given me the opportunity to look at the cross of Jesus Christ more closely and more intimately.  Luke's death brought a new light to the sacrifice that God made when He gave His only begotten Son, to be the ultimate price for sin.  With a combination of real life experience and a true confirmation from God's Word, God has called The Maples Family to testify of His amazing, abundant, life-sustaining, never-ending grace.  To tell of how He has led us from this seemingly impossible valley of sadness...into the truth of the power that rests in those who give Him all the glory.

On December 30th, 2005, our fourth child Olivia Grace, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as well.  On April 20th, 2007, our fifth child Jordan Lynn, was also diagnosed with CF.

In July 2007, we suffered the loss of our home in an electrical fire around midnight.  Our family of six were all sleeping when my wife heard a constant ringing of the door bell.  It was a man who we didn't know, who was driving down our street which he had gotten on "by mistake", to see that our house was on fire.  Now, you can believe what you want, but I believe God directed that man to where he could see the fire and then gave him the instinct to try to wake us up.  As we woke up, we could see that smoke was beginning to pour into the house from the laundry room where the fire had begun.  Our Lord only knows "what could have happened", had God not been "right on time".

With Luke's death, God showed us the value in life and the pain in death.  He showed us the importance of sharing the gospel with as many who will hear for the cause of Christ.  He showed us that life on this earth is indeed temporary.  With the fire, God showed us once more that we shouldn't be focused on temporary things.  We lost most all of what we had, due to the fire, smoke, or water.  We realize now more than ever that the most important things in life, are those which carry an eternal impact.  It's not about us...It's about Christ.  It's not about what we can do...it's about what Christ does in us and through us that counts for His glory.  It's not about who we are...it's about who Christ is.  It's not about temporary life...it's about eternal life.  And as much as we love Luke and our children...It's not about them either.  It is all about Jesus Christ.

Today, Robbin & I, and our four children, follow God's leading...traveling into churches across the country...preaching, singing, testifying, and witnessing of His amazing, abundant, life-sustaining, never-ending grace.   If you are a Pastor or Church Leader and would like to invite The Maples Family to come and testify of God's Grace in the midst of the storm, we'd love to visit with you.  Simply contact us, using the information below.  May God bless, protect, and expand your ministry for His glory.
